Lee Daubaras is an aspiring poet, budding novelist, and multi-instrumentalist founder of gothic-metal bands Qethaladüm and Egretta. Majoring in Psychology at SUNY Purchase, Lee spends a vast majority of his time writing music under these monikers, while also operating the family-run record label "Duskmeadow Recordings," where auditory accompaniments to written works are developed. Though writing stays a passion project, Lee hopes to someday publish a series of larger fantasy works in line with his forefather inspirations such as Michael Moorcock's "The Elric Saga."
O’, Fanged bow of thine,
For that which no man of flesh, supple or taut, could string;
Despised: the Beggar,
Who doth cast off rags,
Takes a blind revenge.
O’, Beauteous reverence,
Your relic: thy decayed image of ‘enemy’, bore fruit.
O’, He sees a cold dawn,
For that which no man of flesh, torn or withered, could recall.
Terror: the adversary,
Who now – recklessly – revels in a sightless dream.
And now they have been drawn,
Drawn: by the grinning darkness,
Drawn: through the maw of the gale,
And unto his final resting place: of stone, and living machines.
O’, They live to stare, forlorn, into the gilded end.
Repulsed by the inconsequential moment, but so too repulsed by
what is yet to be.
And in spite, the Beggar,
Who, agonized, cast off rags,
Knocked thy repugnant arrow,
Did cry as it flew forth into the unknown:
“He who starves is righteous, and he who doth burn will hear no
laughter.”
