A quiet moment
A refuge from the heat
Where I close my eyes
And rest my head against the window
Because I have been here too long
But I want to see more of the
Sloping hills and quiet farms
The open sky from my dusty window
I am eight rows back and I pray
That our guide can’t see me with my headphones in
Not listening
I look around and see others sleeping
To ease my conscience
Because I would much rather hear
John Denver sing to me
While I look up at the ceiling and wonder
How did they stain the top of the bus
While all the rocky mountains pass me by
